February 2009

I've told some of you how Ben likes to hang upside down to help his back but you have to see it to believe it. He has special boots that click into the pull-up bar.

On Valentine's Day, Kelly and I hung out with Audrey for a girly day of fun including manicures, decorating cookies, hide & go seek, sidewalk chalk and giggles.

Oh sprinkles everywhere.... sorry Randy :)
Mom & Dad have been here for January & February and I have really enjoyed being about to see them more often. Mom even helped me go to a million furniture stores and we picked out a new table for the kitchen.

Wedding Planning

I love having a good project to work organize and plan. It's been fun to research venues and help Tyler start planning the wedding. So far we know the wedding will be in Youngstown Ohio with just immediate family, probably in the backyard at mom & dad's house. The reception on July 18th for 250+ will be at Antones Banquet Center on July 18th. Antones is my family's favorite Italian food. The food will include Eggplant Parmagiana, Chicken Francaise, Sausage with peppers & onions, Salad, Redskin Potatoes, Green Beans Almondine, and Penne pasta with marinara sauce. Yummy! And of course and open bar :)

We found Tyler a very cute dress last weekend for the reception. We are still working on finding a DJ and I am designing the invitations while she finalizes the invitation list.

Youngstown has a unique tradition called the cookie table where in a large table with different cookies is presented to guests at the wedding reception. This tradition reflects the diverse ethnic communities of steel-mill towns, especially in northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Cookies are generally prepared by family members in advance of the reception. Family members bake up a frenzy in the weeks before the wedding and put all the resulting cookies on a decorated table. Guests can eat as much as they want at the reception and then are given doggie bags to take the extras home. And as the size and variety of your cookie table is apparently somewhat of a competition in these parts, there is always a ton leftover. Cookie tables are included in primarily Italian, Catholic, Slovak and Greek wedding receptions.
