Where did the beer go?

I thought this photo was blog-worthy because the amount of fruits, veggies, juice and non-caffeinated beverages (and lack of beer) is a bit strange for my fridge.

Health kick? Not really... I'm pregnant. Just starting my 12th week and finally ready to let people know now that the 1st trimester is almost done. I also figure this will be a fun way to see who actually reads my blog :)

I'm very excited to meet this little spirit inside me and also a little scared at how much our lives are going to change. Ben is over the moon excited as are both sets of grandparents and all of the new aunts. I wasn't sure if it was in god's plan for me to be a mother and part of me is still scared that it will get taken away so I'm trying to just stay in the moment. But it becomes more "real" to me as the weeks go by. I feel so lucky to have such amazing friends to be my role models and experts to go to for my pep talks and with my questions.

So, here's the "how we found out" story. I took a pregnancy test when I was a few days late in February, but the test was negative. I proceeded to have what I thought was a period that month. Then in March I was also late and took a test that was positive. I actually took several tests when I didn't believe that one :) I had to shop all days with my sisters and not tell them my secret because I wanted Ben to be the first to know. That was hard!

The doctor confirmed the pregnancy and they did some bloodwork which suggested I was either carrying twins or further along than we initially thought. Luckily this led to an ultrasound which confirmed that there is only one baby and I am due November 2nd - plus we got to hear the heartbeat. I have all of the usual symptoms - sleeping lots and eating my share of saltine crackers and club soda to settle my stomach. And of course I can cry on queue.

Haven't told anyone at work yet so please don't post anything on facebook.

As you know, I am obnoxiously excited. Really, it's all I can do not to come over and cook you broccoli (for the baby) and feed you ice cream (for you).

Hey - congratulations! Very exciting news - be sure to get up slowly to avoid any dizzy spells (at least that's what my wife tells me).
