Spring Flowers??

I spent last week at geek-fest, Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose. It was fun to show off my demos on USB, QVGA graphics, PIC18 MCUs, mTouch, and many other acronyms that only make sense to geeks like me.

A few funny recent Alexis anticdotes to share:

Ben got me a beautiful orchid plant for Valentine's Day. Usually I kill plants by not ever watering them. In my attempts to make sure it was watered enough, I managed to almost drown this poor thing. It is now in the plant ER as Ben's boss is trying to save it! He has special lights and grows organic veggies at work so we figured he was the expert needed. It did last 2 months which is a new plant record for me (aside from cactus plants which I seem to keep alive just fine)!

Cox Cable made me mad and I've cancelled all of our tv services. It's a long story but basically the moral of the story is that Cox sucks and their supposed DVR is in no way close to my beloved TiVO. After 3 "DVR" boxes have broken down on me in the 5 months we've been in the appt, I got mad and disconnected all of our service. So now, I'm relying on a basic antenna for tv service until the house is finished this fall. Minor shaking from my tv withdrawl symptoms but aside from that I'm doing ok :)

Check out Gus's new napping spot inside our entertainment center... quite the cat...

And the exciting news.... Our house is totally framed - It's so fun to walk through all the rooms and envision the future!

Thomas was just asking about if you mention Gus in the blog.. he was very concerned about the cat.. So he'll be happy to know he's doing well :-) Strange man I married..

And I too am a killer of plants.. though outside ones do far better than the inside variety..

Miss ya!

I have one plant in my house. I've managed to keep it alive for two years. That was after I killed 3 previous plants by overwatering them. Good luck!

I can't believe how fast the house frame went up. It looks great even now - can't wait to see it done!!! That was fast.

Jeff got mad at Direct TV over the weekend. We pay $60 a month for our service. I got an ad in the paper that said they charge $35 for the same program. Jeff called them to ask for that rate and they said they only offer NEW customers the good rate. They charge loyal customers of 10 years much more!! Whatever! I asked him how that would fly if he told Avnet's loyal customers that they should have to pay more than new customrs. He laughed. Really - how is that fair! We need more competitors in the cable/digital TV market so that they can compete for my business.
